Aiswarya Harikumar

I am a Bharatanatyam artist and educator with over two decades of training and practice, with a strong foundation in the Kalakshetra tradition. Alongside performing and teaching Bharatanatyam, I also work with Nattuvangam and Abhinaya, which have deepened my understanding of rhythm, music, movement and expression. I believe Bharatanatyam is not merely about learning steps or perfecting technique, but about understanding the language and spirit of the art form. My teaching focuses on building strong foundations in adavu, rhythm, musicality, posture, movement and expression, while helping students understand the meaning and context behind what they learn. I strive to create a learning environment that is disciplined yet encouraging, where students can progress at their own pace while maintaining sincerity and consistency in their practice. I encourage students to develop their own individuality and artistic voice while respecting the tradition and grammar of Bharatanatyam. Through my teaching, I hope to help students build not only technical skill and confidence, but also a deeper appreciation and lasting connection with the art form.
